Why Attend a Veterans Specialized Treatment Program?
As an American veteran, you are appreciated for your service. The battles you faced on or off the field may have been overwhelming, but you survived. You served your country with pride. And now as a civilian, the battles, although smaller, are now against drugs or alcohol. They’re internal and may be a challenge to face without help. And that’s okay. The same strength you had on the battlefield is the same toughness that is within you now.
Desert Hope Treatment Center, an American Addiction Centers facility, provides a specialized rehabilitation program designed specifically for veterans.
Individuals addicted to drugs or alcohol don’t all fit the same mold. Because of this, it’s beneficial for a veteran’s centered program to help those with their unique needs. Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, Desert Hope even recognizes the distinct substance abuse and mental health issues between the different branches of the military that may need to be addressed.
The Marine Corps ranked the highest out of all of the branches for hazardous drinking, binge drinking, and heavy drinking. Navy service members had 18% of its members return from deployment meet the criteria for post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) compared to 5% of those in the Air Force.
Out of the young men serving in the Army, 8% are heavy drinkers compared to the rates within other branches of service. There are varying degrees of challenges that each branch faces. Having a program that understands this allows veterans to be able to receive a holistic approach to their medical, mental, and substance abuse issues.
And Desert Hope takes it a step further by assessing individuals and tailoring a unique treatment plan based upon that assessment.
But help doesn’t just stop there.
The United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs provides the Veteran’s Community Care program. This program not only increases access to substance abuse treatment for veterans, but it provides a means to help as many former service men and women who need medical care. With this program, some private treatment centers are made available to eligible veterans. This includes treatment centers like Desert Hope. Desert Hope is actually an approved Veterans Affairs community care provider (CCP).
Desert Hope Treatment Center offers supervised medical detox, inpatient rehabilitation (IR), residential treatment, partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), outpatient program (OP), and even sober living for those that would like to transition from treatment back into world with continued support in a safe environment.
If needed, the facility is even allowing individuals to bring their service dog (and in certain cases, their emotional support dog) to treatment.
At Desert Hope Treatment Center, veterans will get the treatment they need to achieve long-term sobriety through healthy and productive lifestyle choices. The strength that individuals had within the military is the same strength that they can bring with them into treatment. Veterans get the opportunity to face their internal struggles with substance abuse with the help of a team of people in a caring and supportive environment.
