Desert Hope Treatment Center’s “Salute to Recovery” veterans program is specifically designed to address the unique challenges facing military veterans, including PTSD, trauma, hypervigilance, anger, military culture reintegration, and co-occurring mental health disorders. The program is available at multiple levels of care — inpatient residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient — so veterans can enter at the appropriate level of intensity and step down as they stabilize.

Veteran-specific therapies at Desert Hope include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), sound therapy, trauma-focused group therapy, anger management groups designed for military personnel, 12-Step introduction, communication skills training, family therapy, and relapse prevention tailored to veteran triggers.

VA Partnership: Desert Hope is a recognized VA Community Care partner. Veterans with VA benefits may be eligible to access treatment at Desert Hope. The admissions team can verify VA coverage 24/7.

The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS) operates the Las Vegas VA Residential Recovery and Renewal Center (LVR3) — the VA’s first residential addiction treatment program in Southern Nevada. LVR3 is a 20-bed, 30-to-45-day residential program for veterans with substance use disorder and/or gambling addiction, with a separate five-room wing for female veterans.

The VA also operates the Addictive Disorder Treatment Program (ADTP) as an outpatient program for veterans who do not require residential care. VASNHS accepts VA insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE, and private insurance, and most services are provided at no cost to enrolled veterans.

Treatment approach: VASNHS provides CBT, contingency management, motivational interviewing, anger management, brief intervention, and holistic therapies including creative arts, music, gardening, and recreation therapy. A specialized BIPOC veteran track is available. Peer support, housing assistance, employment counseling, and naloxone education are included in the continuum of services.
