What does snorting pills do to you?

People often attempt to snort pills in an attempt to speed up the onset of effects relative to the pill being taken orally. There are a number of risks associated with this type of drug misuse. Especially in the case of medications that have an intended time-release mechanism, the risk of severe intoxication and/or overdose could be increased. Additionally, however, there are several potential adverse developments associated with the insufflation of pulverized medications including airway irritation, airway ulceration, nosebleeds, bronchospasm, pneumothorax, and increased risk of exposure to respiratory pathogens.
